Take Your School Fundraiser to Your Community

If you want your school fundraiser to be successful and raise as much money as possible, you will need to make sure that as many people know about it as possible, both inside as well as outside your organization. In addition to promoting your fundraiser through daily announcements, showing video reminders as well as posting your prize program posters around your facility, here are some additional things that you can do as well to promote your fundraiser:

  • If you have a marquee, advertise your school fundraiser so that everyone can see it. The marquee can also be used as an additional reminder to inform everyone as to when they will need to turn in their money and order forms. Make sure it is updated regularly
  • Make fundraising signs and place them in the front of the school or in a place where your parents pick up their children each day
  • If you have a newsletter, put your fundraising information in your newsletter. Make sure to make it brief yet exciting and informative
  • Spread the word about your fundraiser using Facebook and Twitter and ask others to do the same
  • If you have a website, use the website to inform people as well
  • If, for example, you are incorporating some sort of special event like an inflatable party as a reward for selling or the principal agrees to do something fun if the school reaches its fundraising goal then make arrangements to have the newspaper or local television station out to the event. Make sure that you advertise to your students that you plan to do this before and during the fundraiser. This may help with future fundraising as well.
  • If your school district has an ‘automated phone calling’ system, incorporate it to remind the parents and students about selling as well as when money and order forms will be due
  • If your fundraising company has provided you with some sort of school fundraising manual you may have prepared reminder notices remember that you will want to make copies of and send home periodically
